The museum has a collection of Archaeology and another of Fine Arts.
The Archaeology section ranges from the prehistory of the region to the Spanish-Muslim period. We can highlight the pieces that belong to the Roman period, such as the mosaics and the pieces found in the Los Robles site. The Iberian art show, one of the most outstanding in Spain, is also considered of great value.
In Fine Arts, the Museum of Jaen has works by important local artists of the 19th and 20th centuries. For example, visitors can enjoy works by Rafael Hidalgo de Caviedes, Manuel Ángeles Ortiz and Rafael Zabaleta, to name just a few.
In addition, this museum is considered one of the most outstanding contemporary engraving centres, with works such as Goya's Caprichos, and some pieces by Esteve Botei and Ricardo Baroja.
