Holy Chapel of Saint Andrew (Jaen)

Holy Chapel of Saint Andrew (Jaen)

This was built in 1515 and is the headquarters of the Holy Chapel and Noble Brotherhood of the Clean Conception of Our Lady.

One of the treasures that we can highlight in this chapel is its magnificent gate, created in wrought iron by the master Bartolomé of Jaen in the year 1520, which presents an iconography that alludes to the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. In this fence, it is possible to see the old stocks that were used to collect alms to provide maidens.

The current appearance of the Holy Chapel corresponds to the remodelling that was carried out during the period from 1916 to 1927.

Inside is a baroque-style altarpiece produced by the master Andrés Bautista Carrillo, between 1699 and 1701. Crowning this altarpiece is a painting of the Immaculate Conception and behind it is a baroque dressing room of enormous beauty, adorned by a sculpture of the Immaculate Conception that was carved in 1735.
