Capuchinos Dark Chamber (Jaen)

This is one of the most recommended tourist spots to do something different in Jaen and for those who want to enjoy unique views of the city from above and at 360 degrees on a round white screen. This dark chamber is located on the second floor of the Capuchinos Tower, in the Auditorium of the Alameda.

This building was an old monastery that had a popular viewpoint in old Jaen.

The dark chamber is an instrument in which light is allowed to pass only through a hole located in the upper part of it, where a lens is placed that can be oriented in different directions and that projects images on a table in an enlarged, concave way. Thus, visitors will be able to observe in detail the appearance of the city and the life of the inhabitants of Jaen, live and direct.

Looking south, you can see a panoramic view of the mountains, the San Cristóbal hill and the Almodóvar hill. Looking west, you can see the hamlet of Jaen and the monumental complex made up of the Cathedral, the Church of Saint Ildefonsus and the Castle of Saint Catherine. To the east, you can see Sierra Mágina and the town of Mancha Real. Finally, to the north, visitors will find the nearby La Salobreja sports centre.
