Segovia, founded by the Romans, is the capital of the homonymous province belonging to the Autonomous Community of Castile and Leon. It is world famous due to the impressive Roman aqueduct that runs through the city, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985.
Segovia has an extraordinarily valuable multiethnic identity and heritage that has earned it great appeal as a tourist epicentre. This has been translated into a large number of thematic routes.
These routes offer an interesting tour of the many places where important figures of the arts and liturgy came to life in Segovia, such as the Route of St. Teresa and the Route of Antonio Machado.
Other routes are much more recreational and playful, such as the relaxing Route of the Viewpoints, where tourists and visitors can admire spectacular views, as well as the Museum of Segovia Viewpoint, the Alcázar, the Viewpoint of the Garden of Fromkes and many others.
The
Green Walks Route is ideal for ecotourism lovers, as it travels along the banks of the Eresma and Clamores rivers and is full of spectacular landscape and environmental wealth.
The
Path of the Mills and the
Water Route offer routes of great historical and heritage interest along the ruins of many mills and the waterway that crosses Segovia. A highlight is the world-famous Roman aqueduct.
The
Way of San Frutos is a splendid route that combines the imposing ruins and monuments of the city with the abundant natural beauty of its surroundings. It is one of the most pleasant walks in the city.
