The climate of Segovia is classified as transitory between a Mediterranean climate and an oceanic Mediterranean climate, with the singularity that both climates occur in a contrasting manner in the upper or lower areas of the town.

Due to its high altitude at one thousand meters above sea level and its position far from the coast, Segovia experiences an average annual temperature of about 12ºC with sunny and very hot summers and cold but dry winters when abundant snowfall is recorded.

Generally, January is the coldest month of the year. Then, temperatures are usually below -6ºC and sometimes reach -15ºC. The hottest time is at the end of July and the beginning of August, with temperatures that can rise to 35ºC. There are many hours of sunshine, cool nights and unusual occasional electrical storms.

Despite being a transitory climate, Segovia registers fairly low rainfall that rarely exceeds 465 mm per year. The months with the least rainfall are usually July and August, with less than 25 mm, while May is usually the rainiest, registering an average of 60 mm of rain.

Although Segovia is at a considerable altitude, it enjoys more than 2,500 hours of sunshine a year, especially in summer. This makes it one of the cities with the greatest amount of sun in central Spain.
