Automotive History Museum (Salamanca)

Located in front of Lis House is the Salamanca Automotive History Museum, one of the most interesting and enjoyable museums in the city. When it was inaugurated in 2002, it was the first museum dedicated to motor vehicles in Spain.

This splendid, interactive museum has a lavish collection of more than 200 historic automobiles, some of them one-of-a-kind models, as well as countless automobile-related accessories and artifacts.

The museum offers a rotating exhibition of 90 pieces. Among those exhibited are gems such as the Benz Patent-Motorwagen tricycle from 1885 (considered the first vehicle with an internal combustion engine), a Cadillac Fleetwood 75 owned by Francisco Franco and the Rolls Royce Silver Ghost model 1922, among many others.

Many of the museum's pieces are contributions from important collectors such as Demetrio Gómez Planche, the General Directorate of Transit, or the Iveco-Pegaso Historical Centre, which donated not only vehicles but also important documentation about the history of each of them.

In addition to vehicles, the Automotive History Museum of Salamanca offers a select library with several volumes and technical books, a splendid newspaper library, a video library with a large number of films, and a select archive.
