Weather by en.tutiempo.net

Girona is characterized by a transitional Mediterranean climate with hot, sunny summers and rainy, relatively mild winters. Although the climate is more continental than coastal, a certain marine influence is felt thanks to the winds, despite its being 25 kilometres from the sea.

Due to its topography, close to France, Girona is also strongly influenced by the mountainous area and is exposed to cold winter currents, especially from November to March. January is the coldest month, with an average temperature of 7ºC. The hottest month is August, with an average temperature of 24ºC.

During the winters in Girona, it is normal for the minimum temperature to drop to -10ºC. However, in general, it is usually around -3ºC or -4ºC.

The summers are usually scorching and very sunny, with temperatures that can easily reach 35ºC and even rise to 40ºC or more. During the last 10 years, measurements of up to 45ºC were taken for several days in a row.

Rainfall in Girona is usually relatively abundant, almost always exceeding 700 mm a year. July is the least rainy month, with just 90 mm on average, while October is the month with the most rain, exceeding approximately 300 mm.

Another characteristic of Girona is its abundance of sun. Although it is not as sunny as in the centre-south of Spain, Girona easily exceeds 2,300 hours of sunshine per year. This positions it among the sunniest cities in northern Spain.
