The Church and Convent of Our Lady of Mercy is a beautiful late-Gothic religious building constructed during the 15th and 16th centuries. Outside the temple, a tower with a spire that stands on its cover is a highlight.
In 2001 the church suffered a tragic fire that caused very serious damages, including the destruction of the magnificent neo-Gothic main altarpiece. After two years of rehabilitation, the church reopened its doors to the public in 2003.
Inside are several chapels that are dedicated to Our Lady of Mercy and that have neo-Gothic altars. There are also several Renaissance-style tombs.
Today the convent, which was the residence of the Mercedarians for more than three centuries, is used by a private business, while the church continues to have a religious use.
