A Coruña is one of the most important cities in Galicia, being the socioeconomic and political epicentre of this autonomous community. It dates back to Roman times, so its artistic and historical wealth is impressive.
This historical heritage is translated into a series of attractive thematic routes highly appreciated by tourists and visitors.
The Tower of Hercules Route is notable because it is the largest natural space in the city and also where both natural and cultural heritage coincide thanks to its extraordinary biological diversity and excellent sculpture park. In addition, it contains the ruins of historical events of great importance and magnitude.
Another route of great attraction and popularity is the Old Town Route, where tourists can admire and learn about important heritage monuments such as Maria Pita Square and the monument in her honour, the Municipal Palace, the Praza da Fariña, the Museum of Sacred Art and countless churches, among many others.
The
Modernist Route offers visitors a look at interesting buildings created during this revolutionary artistic/architectural movement of enormous relevance. Among them are the Casa Rey, the Real building, the Praza de Lugo, the Marquis of San Martin Palace House, the Monument to Concepción Arena and the Arambillét Building, among many others.
A very interesting thematic route is the
Picasso Route, which allows visitors to tour the places where the future genius of painting lived during childhood and pursued his studies, including, of course, the spectacular Picasso House-Museum.
Finally, the route called the
Napoleonic Route is of special significance for A Coruña, as through this route one can learn more about the French invasion of the 19th century and its dramatic historical implications.
