One of the most interesting places in A Coruña is Mount San Pedro. This old defensive point of the city was transformed into a beautiful lookout park from which one has an excellent view of the port. Its privileged position creates a magical point at sunset when the last rays of sun are lost between the horizon and the waters of the sea.
Its construction stemmed from the various projects carried out since the end of the 20th century to recover this site of historical relevance. This new use of the old military enclave and its elevated position give a magisterial air to the natural viewpoint of the city.
This enclave has belonged to the city since 1912, although the project was not defined until 1933 for the defence of the coast. A cannon battery was installed, complemented by others at different points along the coast. Its military use lasted until 1996, when the A Coruña City Council and the Ministry of Defense decided to convert this site into the city's green zone.
If you decide to visit this impressive site, you will want to take the panoramic elevator. This culminates in a viewpoint open to the Atlantic Dome, as well as interactive audiovisual elements that allow you to get to know the city in depth. Also in this green park are corners to discover. The English plant maze is a challenge for the brave who dare to enter it, both children and adults. It also has playgrounds for the little ones, an Interpretation Centre, green areas and a large pond with a waterfall.
