Holy Week

Holy Week in Malaga is one of Spain's most emblematic and exciting celebrations, drawing thousands of visitors from around the world. This religious event, taking place during the last week of Lent, is a profound manifestation of faith and tradition that is intensely experienced on the city streets.

The processions are the heart of Holy Week in Malaga. Brotherhoods and fraternities parade through the streets carrying floats: impressive thrones depicting scenes from the Passion of Christ and the Virgin Mary.

These floats, richly adorned and carried on the shoulders of "costaleros," are accompanied by bands playing processional marches, creating an atmosphere of solemnity and emotion.

One of the highlights is the release of a prisoner: a tradition dating back to the 18th century and taking place during the procession of the Christ of the Good Death. This event, full of symbolism, represents mercy and redemption.

Holy Week in Malaga is not just a religious celebration but also a cultural and social event. The streets come alive with people participating in the processions, tourists marvelling at the sights, and a community united in celebration. The blend of devotion, art and tradition makes Holy Week in Malaga a unique and unforgettable experience.

Malaga Fair

The Malaga Fair is one of the most anticipated and vibrant celebrations in the city. This event, which takes place in mid-August, is a festival of joy, music and colour that attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world.

The fair's roots go back to the 15th century, when the Catholic Monarchs granted the city the right to hold an annual fair. Since then, it has become a deeply rooted tradition combining festive and cultural elements.

During the Malaga Fair, the streets come alive with activity featuring decorated booths, fairground rides and live performances. Locals and visitors dress in traditional attire and enjoy music, dancing and local cuisine.

One of the highlights is the "Day Fair," where tapas and wines can be sampled in the streets of the historic centre. In the evening, the party continues at the Real de la Feria, a fairground where concerts, dances and fireworks displays take place.

The Malaga Fair is a celebration that reflects the joy and hospitality of the people of Malaga. It is an unforgettable experience full of fun and tradition.
