The New Promenade runs along Mount Urgull and goes from the Aquarium of San Sebastian all the way around the mountain until it concludes at the end of the Old Town of the city, right at the edge of the Kuursal side. Together with La Concha Promenade, it is considered one of the most beautiful promenades in the city.
Since its inauguration in 1916, this walk has expanded until it completely borders Mount Urgull. It takes about 40 minutes to complete. This beautiful walk became famous among tourists and visitors thanks to its spectacular view of the Gipuzkoa coast and the Cantabrian Sea, whose furious waves make it attractive to photographers and artists.
Along this walk, you can find a series of artistic works and decorative elements. Among them is the famous sculpture "Empty Construction" by Jorge Oteiza. It was created more than 50 years ago during the Biennial of Sao Paulo and has become one of the most important examples of contemporary European art.
Given its spectacular views, beautiful construction and tranquillity, the New Promenade is an ideal place for lovers, families and tourists who wish to enjoy the natural beauty of the coast of San Sebastian.
