León, the capital of what was the Kingdom of León, is a city with artistic and historical treasures along its streets, avenues and squares – so much so that it is considered one of the main European cities of the so-called Cultural Tourism of the 21st century.
This is due not only to its excellent architecture, which includes treasures such as the Temple of Saint Isidore and the Cathedral, but also to its theatres, such as the Albéitar Theatre, the Ciudad de León Auditorium and the San Francisco Theatre, as well as its many internationally renowned museums. These include MUSAC, the Sierra-Pambley House Museum and the Kingdom of León Interpretation Centre.
León has established itself as a centre of great artistic activity and the seventh art due to the fact that great musical, theatrical, cinematographic and poetry events take place there and have attracted many academics, art lovers and students from artistic centres across the world.
Not only do art and culture overflow in the streets of León but Cultural Tourism has led to the development and prosperity of local commerce and nightlife. This, in turn, has resulted in a large number of restaurants, bars and nightclubs where tourists can have fun and enjoy the excellent gastronomy of León.
In the same way, the streets, with their ancient flavour and enormous patrimonial value, are filled with many commercial premises that offer a wide range of products, in addition to the centuries-old markets, such as the world-famous Conde Luna Market, which has existed for centuries.
