Municipal Palace of Culture and Mudejar Hall (Jaen)

Municipal Palace of Culture and Mudejar Hall (Jaen)

Inside what was formerly known as the Great Palace of the Constable of Castile Don Miguel Lucas de Iranzo we find the Municipal Palace of Culture. The interior room is the only room that remains from the original Mudejar palace built during the 15th century.

At present, the garden and the lower room can be entered through Maestra Street. From the garden, you can see the few surviving remains of the old palace. Its interior is covered by a Mudejar ceiling that, with its beauty, is a unique example of this style in Jaen.

The most important room in the palace is the one used to celebrate the most luxurious banquets and parties. The interior decoration of the palace corresponds to the style used during the time, with stuccoes of rosettes and garlands, which can be better appreciated in the ballroom, where the Public Library currently operates.
