In the former residence of the Pardo Bazan family is the Emilia Pardo Bazan House Museum, which allows you to take a walk in the typical urban style of the 19th century, recognizing architectural forms and construction styles.
In this old home, the figure of Emilia Pardo Bazan can be seen from authentic objects of the aristocracy of the family that surrounded them, with such masterpieces as two Madrazos, a sculpture by Maria Luisa Roldan, tableware from Limoges, a Sorolla, glassware from La Granja, and old fans or the reconstruction of a dress.
For the creation of this museum dedicated to Emilia Pardo Bazan, the authorization of the writer's heiresses was required. They signed an act of donation of the building to the Royal Galician Academy, with the commitment of the same to preserve and disseminate the legacy of who had been named honorary president of this institution in 1906.
A visit to the museum is an interactive and dynamic experience, with activities depending on the characteristics of the people who visit it. In this way, the visitor is brought closer to local history as well as the work and figure of Emilia Pardo Bazan. In the permanent exhibition, manuscripts and documents from the Pardo Bazan archive are shown together with her first editions in different languages and dedicated volumes belonging to her library. A series of furniture, works of art, photographs and other objects preserved from the writer's home in A Coruña and from her Madrid residence on Goya Street is also on display.
